Garlic Supplements: Do they Work?

 Garlic Supplements: Do they Work?

Garlic Supplements: Do they work?

Short answer: Yes.

Long answer: Garlic has been found to have anti-inflammatory effects, as well as anti-cancer and anti-oxidant effects. If you’re a male over 40, it’s a good idea to start taking garlic supplements for prostate health. Once a man hits 40, his testosterone levels start to gradually drop at an estimated rate of 1% per year, which can indirectly cause his DHT levels to increase. DHT, or dihydrotestosterone, is a by-product of the testosterone metabolic process, is more powerful than testosterone, but also has some inherently harmful effects, unfortunately. When DHT attaches to hair follicles on top of the head, it kills the hair follicle over time, causing the hair to fall out permanently, resulting in male pattern baldness. When DHT collects in the prostate gland, it causes the prostate to enlarge over time, and can cause malignant tissue to proliferate inside the gland, causing prostate cancer. All it takes for a man’s DHT levels to rise is for his free testosterone levels to drop even slightly. There are 3 substances that have been found to naturally reduce DHT levels in men: niacin, Omega 3 fish oil, and garlic. For best results, take all 3……and most importantly: once you start taking them, DON’T STOP!

I’ve been taking Omega 3 fish oil, niacin, and garlic supplements since 2014. The benefits of taking all three is that I’ve managed to keep a full head of hair on my head well into my 50’s. Unfortunately, about 4 months ago, my work hours got cut, I started bringing home a smaller paycheck, and I had to make some painful decisions in my budget. I was still able to afford the fish oil and the niacin, but I didn’t have enough money for the garlic supplements, and questioning whether the garlic was actually working or not, I stopped taking it. I’m gonna let Arnold describe the veracity of that decision.

Stopping Garlic Supplements: BIG MISTAKE

Well about 2 months ago, 2 months after I stopped taking the garlic supplement, I started having trouble with urination. The first time it happened, I was at work, I had just finished a 4-and-a-half hour shift (it was supposed to be 6; I told you they cut my hours 😡🤬), and later on that month, I held a mirror up to the back of my head, and noticed that my hair…..was thinning in the crown area. Needless to say, I did what any red-blooded 50-year-old American male would do: I totally panicked. I’m still freaking out over that.

Over the past 2 months, I finally quit that job. My blood pressure levels dropped considerably, and my anxiety and stress levels finally leveled out, so it was a good idea for me to quit that job. Unfortunately, my prostate and hair loss problems didn’t improve, and after checking the notes on my vital signs (I check my blood pressure daily, and keep notes on any changes to my pill schedule), I realized that the problems started about 2 months after I ran out of the garlic supplements. I’m still on the fish oil and the niacin, but it was only tonight that I figured out I need to resume the garlic……

…….so to make a long story short…….

To make a long story short: TOO LATE.

…….I learned that yes, garlic supplements do work……the hard way……

Once again, gents: Once you start taking dietary supplements for prostate health: DON’T STOP!!!! 😳😱
